About Us

About Our Bakery

The Gering Bakery has been baking goodies from scratch since 1950. The bakery is owned and managed by Ron Ahlers, a master baker. Ron was one of the first 500 certifiedd bakers in the United States.

One of the unique aspects of the business is its use of all fresh ingredients — no pre-made mixes are used. We make every item from scratch. We also try to buy as many local ingredients as we can. That includes Robinson Honey from the honey farm in Scottsbluff, NE.

The bakery has its busiest season during the holidays and during the wedding season. Our cake decorators consult with each couple to design the perfect cake for their special day.



Cakes, Cookies, Pastries, Breads & more!

Work in the bakery starts at 7 p.m. and doesn't finish until 5 or 6 a.m. the following morning. The store opens at 5:30 a.m. with a heavenly aroma.

The weather is changeable in Nebraska and dough rises differently in the various weather conditions. The bakers bake with a knowledge of chemistry and a lot of love.
